Working Mum - What?!!? Almost a disaster! Almost!

Received a referral from a MA of rural clinic during my A&E oncall. And this was how the conversation went:

Paraphrasing. And a simplified version. 

MA: Doctor, I have two cases to refer. Satu, foreign body in arm. Budak kecik. Saya tak dapat remove. 

Me: Okay. Foreign body apa tuh? Mcm mana boleh enter tangan?

MA: Foreign body. Tak sure la. Tak dapat remove. Tak sure. Puncture wound. Patient stable.

Pretty pleasant day. Not worth getting upset. Anyhow also need to remove. But of course I asked more questions. Nicely. Maybe just a tiny hint of annoyance. But kesian him sounded so nervous already. But who ask him never clerked properly. 

Me: Okay. Bagi IM ATT. Lagi satu? 

MA: Young female complained of suprapubic pain. 

Bla bla bla. Turned out she had UTI.

MA: Saya sudah bagi potassium chloride.

Me: HAH!!!! WHAT?!!?!! Kamu bagi apa!!??!

(Half shouted. Worse case scenario running through my mind - IV KCl?!?)

MA: Eh eh.. Bukan bukan.. Yang untuk treat dysuria tuh.. 

Me: ?Ural sachet?

MA: Yes yes boss. (Literally can feel him shaking)
Me: Confirmed ural sachet?
MA: Yes yes yes boss. Confirmed.

OMG!!!

Almost died then. Scare die me! *uwahhh.... crying with relief

The day could go one way or the other.

Of course I drilled him and confirmed that he indeed did not give KCl.
I hope he went back and read on ural sachet. I lagi hope he knows what KCl is. 

Asked him to send over that patient too because she had fever as well.
And wanted to inspect her myself.

Admittedly I was quite pissed off. Jolted my otherwise a peaceful day like a shock. 

After making sure both were okay, after confirming that that day was indeed a non-disaster day... I sat down and reflected. 

Suddenly, I couldn't help laughing a bit. It is not funny. Not funny. Nor a laughing matter. But I just couldn't help it... Hahaha...

Anyone who knows me, will know about my wicked sense of humour.

Hahaha. He some more proudly mentioned that. 
The image that popped immediately in my mind at that time was shooting IV KCl. 
Not funny at that time.
People come with UTI nia wanna give KCl. Hahahaha...Haha... A bit funny now.

Honest mistake? Reply too fast? Talk too fast when nervous? 

I don't know. I hope so. Actually, to be fair, I think so. 
Poor guy became so nervous after I asked a few more questions about the FB case. (I need to know what!)
